Hustle Experience

May 15, 2011

My name is Tommy and this is my disco and hustle experience,

and how it change my life.

In the 1970’s i was  playing baseball and basketball,

my dad was very strick,he monitored everything we did.

One spring day after school some of the guys and girls, went  to

a little club that they made in Eddies basement, he called it the peoples

place. This place changed my life,so bobby, Eddie and hector would have

little party’s,at the time a new dance started, called the hustle.Bobby’s

sister Ivonne would go to this club every Friday called the 310 1/2 on

Westchester ave in the Bronx n.y,one day she came buy and said she learned

this new dance from this guy name Floyd called the hustle, she would

teach us these new moves every week,we danced and learned more moves.

The song we dance to was called sugar pie guy great song,i was getting pretty

good at this new dance the hustle. So its was time to hit the clubs in the city,

we all got together and went to this club called the Bomba on 52 street

and Broadway, wow what a place, everyone was there, everybody dancing,

dancers like Billie and Sandra,Eddie and Lourdes,Floyd,Dante, hector and Jackie,Luis Rivera,

these guys are great they put on some great hustle shows.I myself was not

bad,so i got better with time,We hit all the clubs in the city and the Bronx.

loved the disco and hustle life,it was the best time of my life.So tell me

about your disco and hustle experience you know mines.

Great story, Tommy. I, too used to go to the 310 1/2 while living on bathgate ave and still know Floyd and nelly to this day. I remember watching and getting down with the rocker before the hustle came out. Great times.
